How to Descaling Nespresso Gemini CS100 PRO Machine

Recommended By NespressoDude

Welcome to this video from Nespresso’s Technical Assistance Service on how to descale your CS100 PRO machine. Descaling your machine at least once a year is recommended to ensure the perfect cup of coffee. Nespresso Club offers a descaling kit designed especially for your Nespresso machine. In this video, you will learn just how simple it is to descale your machine. Start by emptying the used capsule container and drip tray. If your machine has a filter, remove it from the water tank. Accessing the menu may vary depending on the production lot of your machine. If the power button has an “M” on it, simply press and hold that button for 3 seconds to access the menu. If it’s a regular power button, press it to turn on the machine in standby mode. The machine will rinse and the power button will start blinking. At this point, press and hold the Ristretto, Espresso, and Lungo buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds to access the menu. Press the Lungo button three times and then the Espresso button once to activate the descaling mode. Place a 1.5 liter container under the coffee outlet. Remove the water tank and fill it with approximately 1 liter of water and two descaling solution pouches from Nespresso. Press the Espresso button to start the descaling process. Water will flow through the hot water outlet and the coffee outlet. Once the descaling cycle is complete, simply empty the drip tray. Empty and rinse the water tank. Refill the water tank with approximately 3 liters of fresh water. Press the Espresso button to start the rinsing cycle. When it’s finished, just press any button to exit the descaling mode. If the water in your area is very hard, remember to install a new filter in the water tank before filling it with fresh water. Your CS100 PRO machine is now ready. Now you can continue enjoying our range of Grands Crus, specifically designed to optimize the quality of extraction from your machine and guarantee the maximum quality of Nespresso coffee, cup after cup.

Step 1: Empty the Capsule Container and Drip Tray

To begin the descaling process for your Nespresso Gemini CS100 PRO, you will first need to empty the capsule container and drip tray. These components collect residue from the brewing process and should be cleared before proceeding with the descaling procedure. Simply remove the capsule container and drip tray from the machine and dispose of any waste material properly. This step will ensure a clean and efficient descaling process.

Step 2: Remove the Filter (if applicable)

If your Nespresso Gemini CS100 PRO is equipped with a filter, it is important to remove it before starting the descaling process. The filter helps to purify the water used in brewing, but it can impede the effectiveness of the descaling solution. Carefully detach the filter from the water tank and set it aside. This step will allow the descaling solution to work directly on the internal components of the machine.

Step 3: Accessing the Menu

Depending on the production batch of your Nespresso Gemini CS100 PRO, there are two different ways to access the menu on the machine.

Option 1: M Button

If the power button on your machine has the letter “M” on it, all you need to do is press and hold that button for 3 seconds to access the menu. This method is simple and straightforward, allowing you to swiftly move on to the descaling process.

Option 2: Regular Power Button

For machines with a regular power button, press the button to turn on the machine and enter standby mode. The machine will begin to rinse, and the power button will start blinking. At this point, simultaneously press and hold the Ristretto, Espresso, and Lungo buttons for 3 seconds to access the menu.

Step 4: Entering Descaling Mode

Once you have accessed the menu on your Nespresso Gemini CS100 PRO, it is time to enter descaling mode. Press the Lungo button three times, followed by the Espresso button once to activate the descaling mode. This will prepare the machine for the upcoming descaling process.

Step 5: Placing a Container

To catch the descaling solution and water mixture, place a container with a capacity of 1.5 liters under the coffee outlet of the machine. This container will collect the liquid as it flows through the hot water outlet and the coffee outlet during the descaling process.

Step 6: Fill the Water Tank

Next, remove the water tank from the machine and fill it with approximately 1 liter of water. Add two descaling solution packets specially designed for Nespresso machines. These descaling solutions are available in a kit provided by Nespresso. Ensure that the water tank is securely placed back into the machine after adding the solution.

Step 7: Initiating the Descaling Process

With the container in place and the water tank filled with the descaling solution, it is time to initiate the descaling process. Press the Espresso button on your Nespresso Gemini CS100 PRO to start the descaling. As the process begins, water will flow through the hot water outlet and the coffee outlet, thoroughly cleaning and descaling the internal components of the machine.

Step 8: Emptying and Rinsing

Once the descaling cycle has finished, it is important to empty the container used to collect the descaling solution and water mixture. Additionally, remove and rinse the water tank thoroughly to remove any remaining solution. This step ensures that all traces of the descaling solution are removed from the machine, leaving it clean and ready for use.

Step 9: Refilling the Water Tank

After emptying and rinsing the container and water tank, refill the water tank with approximately 3 liters of fresh water. This will be used for the rinsing cycle to eliminate any remaining residue from the descaling process. Place the water tank back into the machine, ensuring a secure fit.

Conclusion

By following these steps, you have successfully descaled your Nespresso Gemini CS100 PRO. Regular descaling, at least once a year, is recommended to maintain the quality and performance of your coffee machine. Now that your machine is clean and ready, you can continue to enjoy Nespresso’s range of Grands Crus. These coffee capsules are designed specifically to optimize the extraction quality of your Nespresso machine, ensuring the maximum quality in every cup of coffee you make. Cheers to a perfectly brewed cup of coffee!
