Turn off the machine

The first step in emptying your Essenza Mini machine is to turn it off. To do this, simply press both the Espresso and Lungo buttons simultaneously. This will power down the machine and prepare it for the emptying process.

Remove the water tank and open the lever

Once the machine is turned off, you can remove the water tank. The water tank is typically located at the back or the side of the machine, depending on the model. Gently lift the water tank straight up to detach it from the machine.

Place a container under the coffee outlet

To catch any remaining water or coffee in the machine, it is important to place a container under the coffee outlet. This can be a cup, mug, or any other suitable container that can hold liquid. Make sure the container is positioned directly under the coffee outlet to prevent any spills or drips.

Press and hold the Espresso & Lungo buttons

With the water tank removed, the lever open, and the container in place, it’s time to initiate the emptying process. Press and hold both the Espresso and Lungo buttons simultaneously for at least 5 seconds. By doing this, you will activate the emptying mode of the machine.

The emptying process begins

Once the Espresso and Lungo buttons are pressed and held, you will notice that the lights on the machine start blinking alternatively. This is an indication that the emptying process has begun. It is important to let the machine complete this process fully before moving on to the next step.

The machine switches off automatically

After the emptying process is finished, the machine will switch off automatically. This is a convenient feature of the Essenza Mini machine, as it ensures that the machine is completely powered down before you proceed with further cleaning or storage.

Close the lever

With the emptying process complete and the machine turned off, it’s time to close the lever. Simply lower the lever down until it is securely closed. This step helps ensure that the machine remains in its proper position and prevents any damage during transport or storage.

Empty and clean the used capsule container

Next, you will need to empty and clean the used capsule container. This container collects the used coffee capsules after each brewing cycle. To empty it, carefully remove the container from the machine and dispose of the used capsules. Rinse the container with water to remove any residue, and then dry it thoroughly before reinserting it into the machine.

Clean the drip tray

Another important step in emptying your Essenza Mini machine is to clean the drip tray. The drip tray is located beneath the used capsule container and collects any liquid that may drip or overflow during brewing. Remove the drip tray from the machine and discard any liquid or debris. Clean the drip tray with warm soapy water, rinse it thoroughly, and dry it before placing it back into the machine.

Clean the drip base

Lastly, you will need to clean the drip base. The drip base is the area where the coffee outlet and the drip tray are located. It may accumulate coffee residue or other debris over time. To clean the drip base, use a damp cloth or sponge to wipe away any dirt or residue. Make sure to dry the drip base thoroughly before reassembling the machine.

By following these simple steps, you can successfully empty your Essenza Mini machine and prepare it for transport or storage.
