The Top Nespresso Machines to Buy in 2023
Purchasing a Nespresso machine is wonderful, but it may also be intimidating. There are two distinct product lines, each with several models to pick from. Furthermore, they are not inexpensive! The first step is to do research to determine which Nespresso machines would be appropriate for your requirements.

There are numerous blog entries out there with views on which Nespresso machines are the finest, many written by individuals who have never tried one. Two of the three models I suggest are mine. The third is owned by a family member, and I may use it whenever I come. I also devote a significant amount of time to Nespresso user social media forums, such as Reddit and Facebook. This has taught me a lot about which models people like and dislike.

The Most Important Difference Between Nespresso Original and Vertuo Lines
One of the first things you’ll notice when investigating which Nespresso machine is perfect for you is that there are two versions. There are two lines of Vertuo models: the original line and the updated line. The kind of coffee you want to drink is the most significant consideration when picking between a Nespresso Vertuoline vs. an Original model.

Original
The Nespresso Original line devices only use espresso capsules to brew. Espresso is a potent coffee that is given in short doses. Only espresso may be used to prepare beverages such as lattes, macchiatos, cappuccinos, and flat whites. If you want to make them at home, you must be able to brew espresso. If you like americanos, you’ll enjoy an Original model. Original espresso machines also made it quite simple to get hot water. This makes achieving the proper espresso-to-water ratio for an americano simple.

Vertuo
Vertuoline, on the other hand, can produce both espresso and ordinary coffee. You may utilize a Vertuo model with one of five distinct pod sizes. There are 8 oz coffee pods for frequent coffee consumers. Nespresso just released two new coffees with “boosted” caffeine levels. There will also most likely be new 14 oz XL coffee pods this year. The original XL pods were phased out by the end of 2021. There are single and double espresso pods available for espresso. The double pods are ideal for bigger beverages and provide a better value than two single pods. The fifth pod size is a Gran Lungo, which is a stronger espresso.

If you prefer both coffee and espresso-based beverages in the morning, a Vertuoline Nespresso is a good choice. If you solely want espresso, an Original model will provide you with more choices and, in my view, better espresso.

VertuoPlus is the best Nespresso machine for espresso and regular coffee.
You’ll need a Vertuoline model if you want to produce both espresso and normal coffee with your Nespresso. You may choose from Vertuo Plus, Vertuo, and Evoluo. I picked the VertuoPlus above the other two models for my Vertuoline model. I’m quite pleased with it. Vertuo Next is the fourth choice, but I believe you should avoid it (more on that below).

Here are the three main reasons why I believe the VertuoPlus machines are the finest Nespresso alternative for consumers who like normal coffee as well as espresso.

Water Tank Adjustable
The only Vertuoline model with a movable water tank is the VertuoPlus. This makes it simple to maximize kitchen counter space. It can be put behind, to the side of, or at a 45-degree angle to the brewer. It is simple to maneuver it around other objects on your counter.

Lid with a Motor
The only Vertuoline model with a motorized lid is the VertuoPlus. This makes opening and closing the machine simpler. It may not seem like much to some, but it is beneficial if you have arthritis in your hands. The Vertuo and Evoluo lids must be manually opened, closed, and locked. Because you must crank a lever to lock and open the lid, the Vertuo and Evoluo involve a little more effort and hand strain.

Optional Upgrade
The VertuoPlus is available in two variants. In addition to the normal model, the Nespresso VertuoPlus Deluxe is available. If you want a coffee maker that is a little quicker to operate, this is a wonderful option. It also needs less attention to water levels and pill containers. Except for the heat-up time, they are identical. If these distinctions do not become important to you, it may not be worth the additional money.

Essenza Mini is the best basic Nespresso espresso machine.
If you want a simple Nespresso that can make a shot of espresso in seconds, the Essenza Mini, Essenza Plus, CitiZ, Pixie, or Inissia are your best bets. Please don’t interpret the terms “simple” or “no frills” as a criticism of these products. To prepare an outstanding shot of espresso, they all employ the same Nespresso Original brand’s distinctive 19-bar pressure technology. They are “basic” in the sense that they lack built-in milk prep like the Lattissima and Creatista versions. You’ll need to get a milk frother. Here’s why I believe the Essenza Mini is the finest of these entry-level Nespresso machines: (You can also read my in-depth review)

Design and Dimensions
The Essenza Mini, CitiZ, Pixie, and Inissia are all almost identical. The Essenza Mini has the smallest size, which is ideal if you are short on the room or want to take it with you while traveling. There are small variations in water tank size and used capsule storage, but it is generally fairly identical to the other three. The most noticeable variation is in the design, which may be irrelevant to some.

Don’t be concerned with the Breville vs. De’Longhi labels when purchasing. Unless you have a strong preference for one design over the other, I will go with the cheaper Essenza Mini. The Breville Essenza Mini has a simplistic design that I enjoy. Some folks may appreciate the De’Longhi version’s form. Both are top-rated Nespresso partners. The machine’s guts are developed by Nespresso and are identical in both.

Best Price For Nespresso Essenza Mini (Usually)
Aside from pricing, the Essenza Mini differs significantly from the other basic variants. The Essenza Mini is the least expensive of the bunch, while the CitiZ is the most expensive. Given that they both function similarly, my choice is the Essenza Mini.

Essenza Plus vs. Essenza Mini
The Essenza Plus was just introduced by Nespresso. It generally costs $60 more than the Mini since it contains the following added features:

Two more drink sizes using espresso pods (5 oz and 6.7 oz Americano)
bigger previously used capsule holder (stores five additional old pods vs. the Mini)
The water tank is 66% bigger.
WiFi connectivity allows for simple pod rearrangement.
In brief, the Plus has a few more drink choices and requires less cleaning than the Mini. The Plus was out of stock at the time of writing. Check Nespresso.com for the most up-to-date information.

Should You Purchase A Nespresso Milk Frother Add-On?
A milk frother is required if you wish to prepare milk drinks with your Essenza Mini. The Aeroccino 3 and 4 are available from Nespresso. You can probably get your Essenza Mini in a package with the frother to save some money.

The Most Expensive Nespresso Espresso Only Model With Built-In Milk Preparation: Creatista Plus
Are you searching for a higher-end Original Nespresso with built-in milk preparation? If so, you’ll have to choose between the Breville Creatista line and the De’Longhi Lattissima Gran or Pro. I went with the Creatista Plus. I believe it is the finest premium Nespresso machine, and I’ll explain why. You may also read my in-depth product review.

How To Make A Nespresso Creatista Plus Cappuccino

The Creatista Plus is one of the priciest pod brewers on the market. The selling price is between $600 and $650. However, it may be available on Amazon, Bed Bath & Beyond, and other places from time to time. While the cost is high, I feel that “you get what you pay for.” It appeals to me since it offers more functionality and beverage alternatives than competing models. Furthermore, I’ve had no problems with the machine thus far (since June 2021). It is quite dependable.

Additional Drink Options
The variety of cocktails you can brew with the Creatista Plus by pressing a few buttons is what sets it apart. There are seven different cocktails to pick from:

Cappuccino, flat white
Latte Macchiato Espresso Lungo Ristretto
In comparison, the De’Longhi Lattissima Pro, which costs the same, only includes preset settings for cappuccino and latte macchiato. Personally, I think having additional alternatives for the same price was worthwhile. Making an americano is also a breeze with the Creatista. I brew one espresso pod, then eject it and perform two espresso-only hot water cycles.

Design and Functions
In my view, the most attractive Nespresso is the Creatista Plus. My model is finished in brushed stainless steel.

Milk foaming and steaming are incorporated right into the machine. Milk-based beverages do not need the use of external frothers. Simply use the milk jug included in the package to quickly and conveniently prepare the milk.

The water tank is simple to remove and refill at your local tap or water filter. The capsule holder and drip tray are also easily removed for cleaning.

There’s also a cup tray that slides in and out. This is useful for preparing an espresso shot in a shorter glass since it raises the glass closer to the coffee outlet. Simply push the tray in and rest the glass on the drip tray if you’re using a bigger glass.

Latte Art & Steam Wand
Another significant benefit of the Creatista is the steam wand. The Lattissima versions lack a wand. The Rapid Cappuccino system has an in-built milk warming device (RCS). While the RCS method is effective, it provides you with less control. The advantage of using a steam wand and a milk jug is that you can move the jug around to regulate the froth and foam. You’ll also be unable to do latte art unless you have a steam wand.

Creatista Pro vs. Creatista Plus
Breville has introduced the Creatista Pro, a new model. The Pro costs a few hundred dollars more than the Creatista Plus, with a recommended retail price of $850. The Pro has a color digital touch screen as well as more functionality and drinks choices. The water tank on the Pro is around 30% bigger. It’s a little broader and deeper. See my entire assessment of how the Creatista Pro compares to the Plus for additional details.

Vertuo Next is the only Nespresso you should avoid purchasing.
If you want a Nespresso machine that can produce both coffee and espresso, I highly encourage you to avoid the Vertuo Next. Even if it seems like a good offer, I would advise you against purchasing it. Many people believe that since Next is the most recent model, it must be the greatest Vertuo coffee maker. They’d be completely incorrect.

The Vertuo Next offers several interesting features, like Bluetooth and pour-over coffee capsules, but it also has some severe problems. These are usually due to engineering concerns. Since the release of Next, there have been a few design revisions. However, these modifications have not increased dependability. Next, owners continue to have more problems than any other Vertuo model.
